Biohazard - Contamination

This was the first time in a while that I've had an image in mind that I wanted to create on paper. I seen the finished image in my head and tried my best to reproduce what I thought.

The picture was drawn by hand on 11x14 smooth bristol with pencils and marker, then transferred to computer for the color changes and background texture. About 40 hours altogether, on and off.

This was supposed to be a fan art of HUNK from the Resident Evil series, but I couldn't find the proper references that I needed for his costume. Especially the modified TMP he uses - I referenced a couple of guns (mp9 and mp7 mostly) and wound up making a modified weapon of my own. :\
The gas mask is an S10, probably the closest in resemblance to HUNK's mask. In the end, a red tint on the lenses did well as a focal point and as a contrast to the green color of the background.

If there was an artwork that served as inspiration I would have to say it was this one [link] I didn't realize until I was well into the picture that it somehow was subconsciously influencing me. Sometimes DA is a great place to be inspired.
